Whilst on maternity leave, whether ordinary or additional leave, you can work up to 10 days without losing your maternity pay or bringing your maternity leave to an end.
These are called Keeping in Touch days, they are not compulsory and need to be agreed upon by the employer and employee.
Keeping in Touch days are paid at your normal salary however it is down to your employers discretion as to whether you will also receive your statutory maternity pay for Keeping in Touch days you work.
You don't have to do your usual job when you work Keeping in Touch days as they can be used for meetings or training sessions.
Your employer cannot treat you unfairly if you choose not to work Keeping in Touch days as this action could amount to discrimination.
