Family law advice for Divorce Day
The number of couples applying for a divorce is expected to rise significantly in January, with Monday 4thJanuary seeing a surge in people seeking advice from family solicitors.
This pattern has become a tradition such that the first working day after the Christmas break is referred to as ‘Divorce Day’ among the legal profession.
Alistair Dobson, of Lawson-West’s family law team, explained: “We see many people whose relationship has been driven to breaking point over the Christmas holidays, due to a number of factors including the general stress of being stuck indoors together, the expense of present buying and general pressure to keep everyone happy. Sometimes, this can be the final straw for a relationship that is already showing the cracks.”
If you would like advice about divorce, separation, children or finances please contact Alistair at family solicitors Lawson-West on 01858 445 480, or James or Sarah on 0116 212 1080 for an initial consultation. Our offices close at 1pm on Christmas Eve and will reopen on Monday 4th January 2016.
