Spotlight on Viktor Docsakovszky

When did you qualify as a Solicitor?
I obtained my LLB Law Degree at the University of Lincoln in 2022 and my LPC together with my Master Degree at the Nottingham Trent University in 2022. Following this, I undertook my training contract at Shropshire firm and qualified as a solicitor in August 2024. My emphasis has always been on and my training in Family Law.
When did you begin to specialise in Family Law?
I have work exclusively in Family Law since 2021 when I was a legal assistant, and undertaking my education at the same time.
What do you enjoy about Family Law?
My clients are often under tremendous pressure following a breakdown of their marriage or relationship. It can be extremely difficult to press the reset button for a client who is, potentially, venturing into the unknown. I will help clients make decisions so that they may see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I like to empower clients so that they are able to start a new chapter of their life. Similarly, following a breakdown of a relationship, it is vital for the children to have a meaningful relationship with both parents, and I am here to achieve this to my clients in a manner which puts the focus on the children.
If you had a magic wand, what would you change about family law?
The courts are currently over stretched with a long backlog of matters and a limited number of judges to hear them. This can make resolution a long process. There are other means to try and agree a resolution – such as mediation and private court proceedings; these can be hugely successful when both parties want to negotiate.
