Protection Wills
Types of Wills
A Will is a document that gives instructions on what happens with your money and belongings when you die. It also appoints people to be responsible for doing this and can appoint guardians if you have children who require them.
Whilst simple wills can be effective in stating who gets what on death, they don’t offer much protection for family, friends or businesses. Common protections that we are asked about for are:
-
Looking after money for a child until they reach a certain age
-
Looking after money for someone until they are responsible enough to receive it / in a better financial position
-
Keeping money on behalf of someone who is not able to manage their own money due to disability, dependency, illness etc
-
Keeping money for the family and protecting it from being spent on care in later life
-
Avoiding money being used in a child’s divorce settlement
-
Ensuring business continuity after death
All these concerns can be addressed within your Will, but it is important that you get the protection correct. It is important to get advice about how to do this in the best way and the consequences of putting in place such protection.
All our Will appointments include advice from our experts about the most suitable type of Will for your circumstances and desires. If something less complex is required, our solicitors will let you know and advise accordingly. You can find out more about Standard Wills here.
