Professional Deputyship / Attorneyship
Sometimes, it is not the right decision for family, friends or loved ones to be appointed as a person’s Deputy or Attorney for Property and Financial Affairs. This might be for a number of reasons, but common ones are:
-
The person does not have close relatives;
-
The person’s family are unwell, and are not able to manage another responsibility;
-
There are disagreements within the family; or
-
The family are not financially responsible.
In such cases, it is sometimes a good idea to appoint a professional. Some of the benefits to appointing a Professional appointment include:
-
They are a neutral party
-
They are financially responsible
-
They are experienced in managing another person’s affairs
-
They are held to a higher standard of management than someone who is not a professional
